Threats in buying goods without meeting the seller

When buying goods in shop you can examine them and see at once the positive or negative symptoms. It is more difficult to make a decision on the grounds of TV- advertising, where special video-effects help to show up goods in the best way. It may happen that delivered goods don´t look like similar to advertisements.

We suggest to be especially cautious with ordering by mail some complicated objects, what demand usually some tests or try-out. If there is a shop nearby owned by the same distance selling firm, then it would be better to make a check-up of such objects there before buying them.

When buying some goods by the catalogue, it is important to make yourself familiar with conditions of ordering and payment, which are usually at the end of the catalogue. If you realize that the information is not sufficient, find out the telephone number of the firm and ask your questions directly from the customer-service. When this additional information concerns some substantial matters like paying conditions, possibilities to cancel your order, exchange of goods or warranties, then ask this information in writing form, it may help to resolve later the arising problems.

Rather important for you is to pay attention to extra charges for mail services and for return of the ordered goods. If the distance selling firm demands a payment in advance, then it must be written in contract and as usual, a purchaser shall not be required to make advance payments to an extent greater than half of the purchase price.
